Welcome to Section for Physicochemistry of Interfacial Phenomena

On May 18, 1993, the President of the Lublin Branch of the Polish Chemical Society (PTChem), prof. Roman Leboda, requested the President of the PTChem to register a new section entitled "Physical Chemistry of Surface Phenomena." The purpose of the section would be to organize national and international symposia, training courses, and scientific courses for Polish and foreign specialists, initiate and support publishing activities in the field of surface physicochemistry, assist in establishing scientific cooperation with foreign centers, and promote the further development of this field of science in Poland. Prof. Leboda proposed prof. Władysław Rudziński as the Section Chairman. He initiated the creation of this section and is a renowned specialist in this field.

In May 1994, in Kazimierz Dolny, the inaugural meeting of the founding members of the PTChem "Physical Chemistry of Surface Phenomena" section was held. The aim was to present the research topics of individual centers and teams.

On June 10, 1997, during a meeting of the PTChem "Physical Chemistry of Surface Phenomena" section in Krakow, the members unanimously decided to change the name of the section to "Physical Chemistry of Interfacial Phenomena," a name it continues to bear today.
